Panthers, Ladies advance in playoffs

The Bullard Panthers recently defeated Van 51-49 to clinch the District Championship.

This is the teams second championship in three years.

"The Panthers were on a mission to be the outright winner in district 14-3A," Coach Ryan Tomlin said. "The boys held the Vandals to 15 points in the first half."

Lance Anding and Austin Camp led the team with 14 points each; Charlie Moore followed with 6; Nikky Rumbelow, 5; Brandon Beavers, 5; Daniel Howard, 3; Josiah Rosebury, 3 and Brandon Davis, 2.

This takes the Panthers record to 24-7 overall and 9-1 in district.

The Lady Panthers also defeated Pittsburg 38-31 recently in Longview to win the area round of the playoffs and advance to the regional quarterfinals to they will face Liberty- Eylau.

This is the first playoff win in 16 years for the program and was the first district championship in 13 years. Leading the way for the girls were Danielle Heithoff with 10 points and 10 rebounds; Calli Miller shot for 9 points and brought down 6 rebounds and Elisa Lee contributed 7 points and 4 assists.

The Lady Panthers are now 28-5 on the season.
