The Bullard Panther's hosted their first annual power lifting meet, Sat. Feb. 16 as part of a plan Athletic Director Jim Taylor said had been in the works since he accepted the job in Bullard.

The high school gym was transformed to house different weight stations and allow supporters sitting room to view the event.

Taylor said hosting the powerlifting meet is to showcase the school they are proud of and display talents in front of the community.

"Also there is just something special about home games," Taylor said.

The Panthers finished first in the meet overall.

"Our goals are to get bigger, fast and stronger and allow our athletes to compete against other schools in weight lifting," Coach Joe Brannen said.

By the outcome of the meet it seems their goals are within reach.

The following is the results of each lifter in their weight class.

Hunter Skelton, 1st place; Phillip Rieger, 1st place; Ryan Rumbelow, 1st place; John Schmidt, 2nd place; Cody Gabbard, 3rd place; Dalton Simonek, 3rd place; Blain Faulk, 4th place and Dakota Robinson, 4th place.
