Panthers, Ladies score wins over Brownsboro

The Bullard Panthers defeated the Brownsboro Bears 62-51 Friday night.

This win guaranteed the Panthers a spot in the playoffs for the 5th consecutive year.

Lance Anding led in scoring with 21 points; Charlie Moore scored 20 and Austin Camp added 9 to take the Panthers district record to 6-1 and 21-7 overall.

"I thought the guys played very hard," Coach Ryan Tomlin said. "We had a horrible night at the free throw line; missing 21. We cannot continue to miss free throws like this or it will come back to haunt us."

The Panthers will continue their run in district as they host Athens Friday night.

The varsity Lady Panthers added a 72-52 victory over Brownsboro to their spotless district record.

The win brings the team to 9-0 in district and 24-4 overall.

All 11 players scored for the victory; Danielle Heithoff led the girls with 20 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocks and 3 assists.

Calli Miller followed with 11 points, 6 rebounds and held the Bearettes from scoring with 2 blocks.

Elisa Lee contributed 9 points and aided to the team effort with 8 assists.

Sarah Welling scored 8 points with 5 rebounds and managed to steal the ball 4 times from Brownsboro.

Christina Hatten had 4 points along with 6 assists and Kayla Welling shot for 7 points and blocked Brownsboro's ladies from scoring once.

The junior varsity Lady Panthers suffered a 50-28 loss to the Brownsboro Bearettes.

The varsity girls will play Winnsboro in a warm-up game, at UT Tyler at 2 p.m. Saturday.
