NETPA calls for Bullard student journalism entries

To further the cause of community journalism, the North and East Texas Press Association (NETPA) will award two $1,500 journalism scholarships this spring, according to Lori Mellinger of the Bullard Banner News.

The Bullard Banner News is a member of the NETPA.

The NETPA scholarship program was begun in 1999.

The 2007 winners were Meghan Clark of Olney High School and Tiffany Henry of White Oak High School.

Scholarships will be given to college-bound graduating high school seniors and actively enrolled college students from the NETPA region pursuing an education in print journalism.

Applications must be postmarked by Saturday, March 1, 2008 to be considered.

Applications are available from the Bullard Banner News, 114 N. Houston St., Bullard, or can be downloaded from the NETPA Web site, www.NETPA.us.

Completed applications should be mailed to Randy Keck, The Community News, Box 1031, Aledo, TX 76008.

The winners will be recognized at the annual NETPA convention to be held in Tyler on April 3-5, 2008.
