Benefit concert to be held for Bullard library
Staff reports

Fletcher
The Capital Campaign Committee of the Bullard Community Library is holding a concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. Feb.15, at Eagles Bluff Country Club, featuring award-winning classical guitarist Peter Fletcher.

A prize winner of the 1990 MTNA Wurlitzer Competition, Fletcher's playing has been described by Peter Soloff of the Cleveland Quartet as a "very artistic performance throughout."

Having commenced guitar study at age seven, Fletcher first worked with John Sutherland in Atlanta and gave his first concert, performing works by Bach, Debussy, and Grieg, at age 15.

On demand as a performer in cultural centers throughout the country, and on the Touring Roster of the Georgia Council for the Arts, Fletcher has been invited to give recitals as well as television and radio broadcasts throughout the United States. Peter Fletcher's first recording: The Art of Classical Guitar, received critical acclaim, and his new release on Centaur Records features the music of Federico Mompou.

Fletcher's diverse repertoire spans from the Renaissance Period through the 20th century, and spends a lot of time searching for new

music for the guitar.

The concert will feature some selections from Fletcher's 2007 CD release, Music of four Centuries, such as the ever popular Recuerdos dela Alhambra by Francisco Tárrega. Other Repertoire will include the Third Cello Suite and Prelude, Fugue and Allegro by J. S. Bach; Sarabande and Variations by G. F. Handel; Usher-Waltz, a unique and intense piece by Russian guitarist and composer Nikita Koshkin; and music of Weiss, Crespo and Lauro. The concert will culminate with an exciting, powerful Spanish work - Sevilla - by Isaac Albéniz.

Tickets for the event are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Bullard Community Library, 211 W. Main St., Bullard or at the library web site www.bullardlibrary.org.

Everyone in the community is invited to attend this special musical event.

Doors will open at 7 p.m.
