TURFGRASS CONFERENCE SET

Feb. 7 is the date set for this year's East Texas Turfgrass Conference which will be held at the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Overton.

This conference is designed to provide practical turfgrass management advice to personnel from school districts, city parks and recreation departments, and lawn and landscape companies.

Homeowners with an avid interest in lawn management will learn some new tips and information by attending as well.

The event begins with registration at 8 a.m. and concludes around 3 p.m. Texas Department of Agriculture pesticide license holders will receive five hours of continuing education credit (one hour Integrated Pest Management, 1 hour Laws and Regulations, and three hours General) for attending.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit with commercial vendors and view the latest in lawn care equipment throughout the day.

Topics for the day include: a turfgrass disease control update; moles in the landscape; turfgrass stress; weed control and herbicide update; overseeding turf with ryegrass; bermudagrass management from A to Z; pesticide laws and regulations; and key turfgrass establishment issues.

Cost for the event is $25 per person which includes an `all you can eat' catfish lunch.

Registration this year for all attendees will be handled at the door the day of the event.
