Welling leads victory over Bulldogs in Friday's game

The varsity Lady Panthers defeated the Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs 73-34 on Friday night.

Leading the way for Bullard was Sarah Welling with 17 points, including 3 three-pointers, as well as three assists. Danielle Heithoff contributed 16 points and 8 rebounds; Kayla Welling scored 11 points and managed 6 rebounds while Elisa Lee scored 10 points and contributed 6 assists.

Hillary Philpott shot for 8 points while Christina Hatten added 7 and Mallory Red brought down 8 rebounds.

The victory brings the Lady Panther's record to 3-0 in district play and 20-4 overall.

The team is also ranked as 18th in the state for class AAA in a poll by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

Bullard Panthers down Sabine this week

The Bullard Varsity Panthers beat Sabine 64-54 Tuesday night.

The Panthers were led in scoring by Brandon Beavers with 18; Daniel Howard, 11 and Lance Anding with 10.

"There were a host of others that contributed and the team did a great job defensively." Coach Ryan Tomlin said.

The team then suffered a 71-47 loss Friday night, in the first district game of the season against the Chapel Hill Bulldogs.

Brandon Beavers was leading scored of the night with 17 points. Austin Camp followed with 11; Charlie Moore, 6; Daniel Howard, 5; Lance Anding, 3; Andrew Barron, 3 and Nikky Rumbelow, 2.

The junior varsity boys were also defeated 52-46 by the Bulldogs.

Ryan Wood and Sydney Lawson led the team with 12 points each.

Stephen Head followed with 5; Marquez Franklin, 4; R.J. Horton, 4; Steven Langston, 3; Keaton Boyd, 2; Koby Greene, 2 and Jace Deese, 2.

The Panthers will host Canton Friday, Jan. 18 with freshmen beginning at 4:30 p.m.
