TxDOT: FM 2493 culvert replacement under way

Construction crews are scheduled to replace a drainage culvert on the north end of the FM 2493 or Old Jacksonville Highway project - where the project has remained unpaved - began on Monday.

The culvert replacement will approximately three weeks, weather permitting.

FM 2493 will be reduced to one lane in each direction in the immediate work area while the work is in progress.

Motorists are encouraged to leave early and seek an alternate route if possible.

"This is nobody's idea of a good time," said TxDOT public information officer Larry Krantz. "But the work needs to be done. We'll get in and get out as quickly as we can.

"The good news is that this should be the last time we impact traffic during this construction project."

All construction work on the FM 2493 widening project should be concluded by May.
