BMS production is a big success

If you missed out on having the opportunity to be a first hand witness to Bullard Middle School's presentation of "The Happy Scarecrow," then I feel sorry for your loss.

The show was presented on Dec. 19, at the middle school auditorium under the direction of Shannon Leisure and Jodi Gilley.

"The Happy Scarecrow" is a story about the search for happiness and the ultimate sacrifice. At district 14-3A competition the production placed fourth overall with an honorable All-Star Cast nomination going to Stormie Thoene and an All- Star Cast award going to Nick Gilley.

The evaluations from the judges at the contest were as follows.

Mack Stewart, The Scarecrow, had an ending scene that was a pivotal moment in the play. He was awesome in his performance.

Lorri Farrow, The Witch, had great vocal inflection and played her part well.

Stormie Thoene, The Fairy, owned the stage with her great vocals.

Christine Wilson had a great part played from the audience. She had a great voice for the part.

Kelsey Long, The Little Girl, made your small part huge. She has great potential for the future.

Justine Quick, The Old Man, had greatest hair ever. The judges loved her voice for the part.

Mallory McCoy, The Skunk, was the cutest thing in the world. She made a huge impression on the stage with her performance as a skunk.

Nick Gilley, The Jester, was an awesome performer. He has great potential for the future; keep up the good work.

Jamie King, The Scarehuman, had the greatest hair ever. The judges loved the voice for the part.

Braden Root, The King, had a strong performance as the King. He showed great use of the stage.

Abigail Ventress, The Princess, had a lovely performance, a good stage presence, and was a perfect princess.

Weston Gray, Lights, had great use of the lights.

Jesse Duplechin, music, had great music. He hit every cue.

Madison Davis, Voice and Stage Crew, was an awesome crew member.

Dr. Michael McKelvey, judge had these words to say about the cast.

"These are kids I'd love to have in my summer program in Austin. You are on the verge of greatness."

Director Shannon Leisure's comments are as follows:

"This group of kids are amazing to work with. I'm not sure that I will ever have the same experience. They worked hard and went into it with a great attitude. I am so proud of their devotion to this project."
