Dawkins returns to homeland with new team
      ABILENE - For the past 17 years, Wally Dawkins has made a ritual of taking his team west, to play in the Abilene Wylie Lions Club Basketball Tournament. The past tourneys were all with his old Whitehouse Wildcats, and this year he took his Brook Hill Guard.

Guard falls to defending state champs Laneville
      LANEVILLE - The Brook Hill Guard Varsity Boys Basketball team lost a tough game in a tough place to play, losing to the defending class A State Champion, Laneville Tuesday night by a score of 64-58. The game was a see-saw battle tied at 52 all with 2:45 left in front of a rowdy Laneville home crowd.

Guard pounds Garland Christian 9-1 in soccer
      GARLAND - The Brook Hill Guard soccer team picked up a dominating 9-1 win over Garland Christian Academy this past Saturday. The Guard improves to 3- 1 with the win. Next up for The Guard will be a trip to Tyler on Friday to play Grace Community. The game was originally scheduled for Brook Hill, but has been changed to play at Grace Community, beginning at 6 p.m.

Rooney takes third at White Rock
      DALLAS - Bullard's, Tammy Rooney ran this past Sunday in the Dallas White Rock Half Marathon, placing third in her age group. Rooney ran a 1:48:27 over the 13.1 mile course in the 50- 54 women's age group. Disappointed in her time, Rooney finished up the race and with disgust got in her car and drove home to Tyler.

Panthers take second place at Great East Texas Shootout
      BROWNSBORO - The Bullard Panthers brought home the second-place trophy this past weekend from the Great East Texas Shootout, held at four different gyms on the BISD campuses. Thursday produced wins over Rains (90-56), and Grace Community (57-53), and on Friday the Panthers took down Rusk 67-55, behind 21 points from Josiah Rosebury.

Little Panthers debut halftime dribbling, ball skills
      The Little Panthers basketball program is Bullard students grades kindergarten through the sixth grade. These 'Stars of Tomorrow' will be entertaining basketball audiences throughout the East Texas area with their adept ball skills and dribbling exhibitions during halftime of games.

Lady Panthers take second place at Great East Texas Shootout
      BROWNSBORO - The No. 1, Class 2A Winnsboro Lady Raiders have long been a fixture as a state powerhouse regardless of classification. The top-ranked, Lady Raiders punctuated their program's success with a convincing, 60-24 win over the Bullard Lady Panthers in the championship game of the Great East Texas Shootout on Saturday night.

Lady Panthers fall in overtime to state ranked Lobos
      BULLARD - It took an extra period to decide a winner before Longview came out with a thrilling, 63-60, overtime win over the Bullard Lady Panthers on Tuesday night at Panther gymnasium. Bullard (8-2), led at the half, 28-24, behind 15 of Danielle Heithoff's game-high, 21 points.

      Ashley Ricci has been instrumental in the Lady Panther season thus far. Ricci plays the ultimate team role and does all the little things to make the team successful. Ricci is also a varsity cheerleader.

      Although the Bullard Panthers football season ended on a down-note with a surprising loss to Spring Hill, the Panthers senior captain Charlie Moore, along with nine others garnered 2008 District 17-3A All-District nominations named last Wednesday night.
