State ranked Panthers hit ice-slick in Ferris
FERRIS - It was a cold Tuesday night both outside and on the basketball floor for the Bullard Panther inside Yellowjacket gymnasium, as Bullard lost their first game of the year with a 69-48 loss at the hands of a sharp-shooting, Ferris squad.
The 15th-ranked Panthers at the time, just could not get a shot to fall, and turnovers were the downfall according to head coach Hank Hargraves.
"We have still got a lot of players getting their legs, and we are making a lot of mental mistakes," Hargraves said. "But I think we'll be alright after we get everybody with the program and healthy."
Daniel Howard led the Panthers with 10, first half points but the Panthers trailed 41-19.
Howard finished the game with 18 points, while Brandon Beavers added 11-points and eight rebounds. All-State prospect, Lance Anding was held in check with only one three-pointer, and six points in the loss.
In the second half, the Panthers fridge touch continued scoring only six-points in the third period to fall behind, 53-25.
The Panthers fought back to outscore the Yellowjackets, 21-16 in the final stanza but it was too little, too late.
The Panthers will entertain Pine Tree on Tuesday night. For the story and stats, see next week's edition of the Banner News Sports.
