LONGVIEW - The Guard was finally in full gear last week as the football players, turned basketball players to join in for a 64-53, win over Trinity Christian at Titan gymnasium last Tuesday night.
Brook Hill (3-1), was led in scoring by postman, Courtney Thomas with 20 points inside, adding eight rebounds, while Collin Hanks nailed two, threepointers and totaled out with 16 points.
Jeremey Chappelle showed highlights of things to come in limited time, scoring 15 points and grabbing nine rebounds for the Guard.
"We are just now getting the whole team out there together but for a first game, and just a few days practice, I thought we did well," said Wally Dawkins, first-year head coach at Brook Hill. "Obviously we have got a lot of catching up to do for the football players, and it always good to get a win, but we have got a long way to go to get where I think we need to be at this point."
The Guard plays Tenaha on Tuesday night, and will play in the Huntington Tournament this weekend. Non-District Boys
