CROCKETT - The stateranked, Lady Goats of Groesbeck had never seen the Lady Panthers before they walked into Bulldog gymnasium on Tuesday night. They had heard Bullard was a slow starter, so Groesbeck took their time getting to the game, showing up 20-minutes before gametime.

Uncharacteristically, Bullard was ready to rumble and jumped out to a one game lead, with a 25-23, win.

A back-and-forth beginning to the second game was turned around by a seven-point run highlighted by two service aces and two kills for the Lady Goats (34-8).

Groeseck road that turnaround into a three-game run, to end the Lady Panthers season with an Area title to their credit.

Groesbeck had to fight hard to pull off the second game 20-25, but lead and never trailed in the 22-25, and 17-25, game clinchers.

"I was just disappointed that we finally jumped out on someone, and it was almost like we were content with winning jus the one game," said Bullard head coach, Kala Laningham. "I feel really bad for the girls now because they are all still back in the locker room, upset about the lose but I had told them it would take us starting out better and staying consistent.

"This game we got a lead, got content, you can't do that against good teams, and we got beat."

Miller led the team with 26 kills, added 17 digs and had three solo blocks. Junior, 'Nikki' Coleman chimed in with 12 kills and 17 digs. Another returning junior, Valarie Roberts led Bullard with 27 digs, adding eight kills.

Also returning will be junior first-year setter, Heather Camp, adding 36 assists for a season total, 628 on the year.

Sorely missed will be both seniors, and especially the first Division I volleyball sign from Bullard, Miller, according to her coach.

"We won't really realize how much we are going to miss Calli until we get back to workouts," said Laningham about the league Co-MVP. "But her work ethic in practice, her intensity and leadership on the floor, to go with all along that her physical and athletic attributes can't help but be missed.

"I know that we have been really lucky to have had her in out athletic programs, and she is the kind of competitor that is going to be successful in anything she puts her mind to.'

The Banner News errantly and apologetically, 're-coned' the Bullard offensive line in a headline.

Do you think we could pray for a reprieve and 'reclone' the 'Mill-Kill.'

Congratulations coaches, and girls on a great season and you have made Bullard proud on the court, in the classroom and the community!!
