Brook Hill Veterans Day
On November 12 The Brook Hill School student body honored 10 veterans for the service they rendered to their country and for the freedom we enjoy today in America. At the end of World War II, brass used to make campaign medals was in short supply. As a result, very few World War II Veterans ever received their service medals. Guest speaker for the service was Joe Fritcher a retired Gunner's Mate First Class (Navy) and a Pearl Harbor survivor.
Eight of the ten veterans attending the service at Brook Hill received their long overdue medals. Those receiving medals were: Elzie Clark (Army), Eldred Dyess (Army), Jack Tarrant (Army), R. E. Blount (Army Air Corps), Lindsay Cary (Navy), Thomas Holland (Navy), Robert "Dutch" Kromer (Navy), Truman Parmer (Navy).
