Bullard girls program sets new standards
Photo by Cassie Crawford Coaches Greg Gay and Kala Laningham watch on as their respective players Danielle Heithoff and Calli Miller make school history with D-1 signings. A full range of media, friends, coaches, family and friends watched as the Bullard girls athletic program made history, with two first-ever Division I signees. Calli Miller and Danielle Heithoff made it official with national letters-ofintent signings last Wednesday in the Bullard High School auditorium.
Volleyball and basketball stalwart, Calli Miller put the ink to the papers at Wyoming University to play volleyball in Laramie, Wyoming.
In a duel signing, Danielle Heithoff completed a longlived dream, signing to play basketball for the Lady Cardinals of Lamar University in Beaumont.
Although the athletic year has yet to hit mid-point, records and new standards in Panthers sports continue to roll in with signings, and team records falling.
Now, with both athletes on the eighth-ranked basketball team together, hopefully the team highlight memories are still yet to come for the duo.
But the decision of where the next level takes them has been signed, sealed, and delivered.
"This year has got an exceptional group of athletes," said Bullard girls athletic coordinator, Greg Gay, and head coach of the basketball team. "Anytime you can get two athletes like that together you are going to have some success, and obviously with Calli signing in volleyball, and Danielle in basketball, they are two very good athletes that have worked to get where they are at."
Congratulations to Calli, Danielle and their families on making your place in BISD athletic record books, and setting new standards for the Lady Panther athletic programs.
