Panthers JV short in size, players and points in 30-6 loss

The size and speed of the Chapel Hill junior varsity was one thing. Having only 17 players suited out to go against that kind of speed and size was too much for the Bullard junior varsity on Thursday night at Panther Stadium.
Chapel Hill literally raced to a 24-0 lead at the halftime. Three different backs scored on touchdown runs of 5-, 57-, and 40-, and two other backs, added on two-point conversion gallops for the halftime shutout over the Panthers.
A spirited and inspirational conversation from Coach Dennis Beavers somehow fired the crew up for the second half and played the visitors score-for-score, and blow-for-blow.
After swapping out third period series, Bullard put up some points on the arm of Kirk Bryant. A completion of 17-yards to Jackson Peavey moved the ball from seriously bad field position. Then Bryant rolled out of the pocket and found Justin Tadlock, and the big tight end out-jumped two defenders at the Bulldog, 35- yardline and burned some mad wheels racing down the sideline to finish off the 56-yard scoring play, and a 24-6 score. The point after run was flushed by a all out blitz to nullify the PAT attempt.
The Bulldogs put together a sustained drive and scored on a six-yard run with 4:20 on the clock to finalize the scoring in the game.
Peavey played well with several key blocks, two receptions, and a big tackle on fourth down to get the ball back for Bullard.
Eric Benton was close to the 100-yard barrier in rushing for the second week in-a-row, while Bryant and Tadlock made big plays for the defense as well as account for the score.
Blaine Reicher, Colton Faulk, Matthew Irby, and Bryce Dover were cited by coach Rick Day for several pad-popping tackles. The offensive line was anchored by Faulk, Reicher, Dover, Trevor Cannon, Jacob Wood, Matthew Wood, and Nick Price sharing time, with the short-handed roster.
The junior varsity closes out he season on Thursday at Bulldog stadium, hoping for the first win of the season.
