Beware of fraud during Hurricane Ike

FEMA is warning against potential fraud from people calling and knocking on doors claiming they are with charity organizations.

FEMA is encouraging Texas residents to help prevent fraud during the Hurricane Ike recovery effort.

Don't give donations to charities over the phone or to people knocking at your door without first ensuring the charity is legitimate.

If you suspect anyone of involvement in fraudulent activities, call the FEMA Disaster Fraud Hotline at 1- 866-720-5721. That's 866-720- 5721.
