Transitional housing assistance available for evacuees
      AUSTIN, Texas - The Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), at the request of the State of Texas, will activate its transitional sheltering initiative to allow eligible Ike evacuees from Texas, who cannot return to their homes, to stay in hotels or motels until it is safe for them go home.

Bullard High to serve spaghetti to raise funds
      Bullard High School UIL Academic teams will be hosting a spaghetti dinner at the Bullard High School cafeteria on homecoming night, Friday Oct. 3, 2008. Serving times will be from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tickets will be on sale for $5 at the middle school office or at the door. Only 250 tickets will be sold. Youth Rally 'Harvest Fest '08' starts in Jacksonville
      2008 brings about the sixth annual Harvest Fest. Harvest Fest 2008 is a free Christian youth rally held in Jacksonville, Texas. It will begin at 6:00 on September 27 at Jacksonville's Tomato Bowl. This year's lineup includes Dove award winning - KJ-52 and two East Texas bands - Considered Rubbish and Mud Creek Revival.

Agricultural groups organize help for Hurricane Ike's
      Texas AgriLife Extension Service and a number of state agencies and associations, including Texas Farm Bureau, have joined to create a resource staging area, feed collection and transportation network to address the immediate needs of cattle and horses victimized by Hurricane Ike.
