Bullard cross country comes up short

TYLER - This past Saturday morning, the Bullard girl's cross country team took a fifth-place spot on Saturday, in the Robert E. Lee Cross Country Classic, held on the University of Texas at Tyler campus.

Running n the Girls and Boys 1A-3A classification, Bullard was among 17 teams competing.

Mount Pleasant-Chapel Hill won the event, followed by Spring Hill, Will Point and T.K. Gorman for the team title.

Bullard's, Minta Spears took second-place individually, clocking in at 12:27. Spears was the lone Lady Panther in the top 15 runners.

Others making contributions for the fifth-place spot were Bailee Callens in 12th place, Samantha Phillips took 48th, Hillary Kempton and Heather Graves came in at 55th and 56th respectively.

The Bullard boy's varsity team claimed 18th out of 21 teams in the meet.

In the boy's division, Atlanta took the team title, with Eustace, Wills Point, Canton, and Spring Hill rounding out the top five in the Class 1A-3A class.

The top boy's time was turned in by White Oak's, Spencer Lynn with a clocking of 16:09.

Top time for the Panthers came from J.T. Evans, and other Panthers in the run included Keaton Boyd, Andrew Glover, and brothers, Jacob and Josh Whatley.

Bullard had two girls make good showings in the junior varsity division as Emmy Long took seventh-place and Emily Philpott came in 19th.
