Friends of the Bullard Community Library are launching their annual membership campaign this week. The monies raised go toward the operating expenses of the library. According to Tony Padrucco, Board president, the Friends raised over $22,000 last year through fund-raisers, sale of used books, and the membership campaign. "We thank everyone in the community who helped us out, and we hope we can count on you in 2008-09," Padrucco said. "It will take about $43,000 next year to run the library. The Friends hope to contribute $20,000 of that amount." The Friends have two September events that need community support. The third annual golf tournament will be held September 15 at Eagle's Bluff Country Club. A Ladies Game Day will be held in conjunction with the golf tournament. September 25 the Friends' annual meeting will feature Bob Bowman, a well-known East Texas author. Bowman will talk about "things you might not know about East Texas unless you come to this meeting." The event is free and open to the public. "Bowman is quite an entertaining speaker, and we invite all ages for a fun time," Monica Klein, chairperson of the event said.
