FRIENDS of the Library on track to raise record amount in 2008-09
      Friends of the Bullard Community Library are launching their annual membership campaign this week. The monies raised go toward the operating expenses of the library. According to Tony Padrucco, Board president, the Friends raised over $22,000 last year through fund-raisers, sale of used books, and the membership campaign.

      San Antonio, TX - Blake Burrell of Tyler and Josh Martin of Bullard participated in the Texas Brigades summer leadership camps in June and July. They were among one hundred and forty-nine high school students that took part in this award-winning leadership development program.

      HAVANA (AP) _ Cuba's communist government asked them to leave home, and they did: 1.2 million people moved into more secure shelters as Hurricane Ike howled up the spine of the Caribbean's largest island. Ike killed more than 300 people in Haiti, but was blamed for just four deaths in Cuba, which sets an international standard for orderly evacuations.
