Season opened with victory against Jacksonville Maidens
Photo by Doc Smith Bullard lady Panthers talking it up during a timeout in recent season openng win over Jacksonville last Thursday. BULLARD - The Bullard Lady Panthers took a 3-1, win over Jacksonville at the Bullard High School gymnasium on Tuesday night to begin the 2008 campaign.
The Lady Panthers took the win with scores of 25-21, 25-8, 17-25 and 25-9.
The Bullard squad was paced by Wyoming-bound, senior outside hitter, Miller had 24 kills, 10 digs, four service aces and three blocks to lead the way.
Valerie Roberts chipped in for thewin with 17 digs, teammate, Brittany Glover had six blocks and setter, Heather Camp was thefield general accounting for 45 assists.
Eleven unforced errors and five service misfires was the downfall for Bullard in the game three loss.
Bullard will travel to play in the Carthage tournament this weekend. Pool play begins at 11:30 a.m. as Bullard puts their 1-0 mark on the line.
The Bullard junior varsity made quick work of their contest with the Maidens, winning consecutive, 25-8 games for two-game sweep.
Defensively, Caussaundra Braaten led the way while Chelsea Foreman stood out for the Lady Panthers on the offensive side of the net.
The freshmen game was closer but Bullard took a twogame sweep, winning 25-21, and 25-15.
Samantha Phillips and Callie Timmie paced the winwith service runs of 12 and 10 respectively.
Freshman coach, Tammy Rooney cited Heather Anding and Stormie Thoene for outstanding defensive units.
Bullard's junior varsity and freshmen teams will play in the Quitman Tournament this weekend with first games slated for 11 a.m.
