Lady Panthers win tourney, defeat Jacksonville Maidens

The Lady Panthers reigned over the recent three day Cougar-Patriot Basketball Tournament where the girls defeated Gladewater, 62-33; Crockett, 55-34 and Mabank 58-45.

A couple of Lady Panthers took home awards from the tournament.

Danielle Heithoff was named MVP and Sarah Welling received the All Tournament award.

Their streak didn't end and the conditioning paid off as the girls returned home to defeat the Jacksonville Maidens, 43-33.

The win improved the Lady Panthers to 5-1 for the season.

Leading the way were Danielle Heithoff with 17 points, Sarah Welling with 14, Mallory Red with 6, Elisa Lee with 2 points and 3 assists, Kayla Welling with 2 points, Hillary Philpott with 1, and Ashley Ricci with 1.

The junior varsity defeated Jacksonville 39- 26 and the 9th grade team was also victorious with a score of 34-19.

The Lady Panthers will play in the Lindale Hoop Heaven Tournament this weekend starting on Thursday at 10 a.m. against Emory Rains.
