Five Bullard High School Student Council representatives attended Texas A&M University Student Government Association's High School Leadership conference Nov. 16-18.

The theme of the conference was "Carpe Diem: Seize the Day."

The students spent a weekend on the Texas A&M campus participating in activities designed to enhance the students' leadership qualities.

They attended workshops, heard speakers, and worked on team-building activities.

Eighty students from across the state attended, representing 48 high schools.

The five students were Ashley Watkins, Monique Gordon, Blain Faulk, Brandon Noble, and Ryan Hamilton.

The students were excited and enthusiastic about the weekend, and they have each said they plan to attend again next year.

Ryan said that one of the most important things her learned was, "Part of being a good leader is learning to follow."

Brandon said, "I now have a new perspective on being a leader; you don't have to be the top dog to be the leader; there are other roles for leaders."
