Area libraries offer program
Noonday native takes I-20 book tour. See page 2.

"Rise Up Reading!" has been the theme this week, Children's Book Week, and the Noonday and Bullard Community Library highlight celebrations with appearances by storyteller and puppeteer Dru Woods, on Saturday, At the Noonday library, located at 16662 County Road 196, Wood will drop by at noon.

At the Bullard library, he will appear at 10 a.m.

Woods brings more than 30 years of experience in speech, literature and theatre arts to her interactive storytelling and infuses her performances with lavish doses of enthusiasm and creativity.

A celebration of the written word, Children's Book Week introduces young people to books, authors, illustrators and ideas in schools, libraries, homes and bookstores.

Through Children's Book Week, the Children's Book Council encourages young people and their caregivers to discover the complexity of the world beyond their own experience through books.

"People learn, grow, and benefit from reading in their day-to-day lives because so much of today's information is only available through the written word-in books, newspapers, magazines, the Internet, and even on television," said Noonday librarian Loretta Sorenson.

For more information call the Bullard library at 903-894-6125 or the Noonday library at 903-939-0540.
