Bullard varsity offense shines against Chapel Hill

The Bullard junior varsity football team lost a competitive game to the Chapel Hill Bulldogs 20-12 Thursday night at Bulldog Stadium.

The Panthers struggled to get the offense going with untimely errors in the first half.

"Turnovers and missed blocking assignments led to the Panthers woes," said Coach Billy Holcomb.

Making adjustments at halftime the Panther offense came out, moved the ball and scored on a 60 yard run by Dejuan Shelton though the two point conversation was no good.

Later in the third quarter Shelton had another run of 68 yards called back due to a penalty.

To end the offensive scoring for the Panthers, Shelton scored on a inside handoff from about 73 yards.

Others standout players on offensive were Colin Campbell, Preston Seaton-Knox, Jordan Meador, RJ Horton, and Sean Tadlock.

Defensively the Panthers were led by leading tackler Shaquille Marable, Hunter Skelton, Preston Seaton-Knox, and Vincent Cottingham.

Bullard varsity held back the Bulldogs Friday night to win 28- 21.

Charlie Moore had the Panthers headed in the right direction giving the team a good lead heading into half time.

Chapel Hill fought to catch up but in the end Bullard remained victorious.

Moore led passing by completing 8 of 13 attempted passes, he also led rushing with 16 carries to gain 145 yards as well as lending 2 of the teams touch downs.

DeQuan Granberry gained 37 yards on eight carries; Geoff Dick had nine carries for 35 yards and one touch down; Lance Anding gained 30 yards on just three carries and Daniel Howard gained 29 yards on five carries.

Chad Hollie led receiving with six catches for 101 yards; Lance Anding gained 54 yards on one catch and Daniel Howard also made a catch to add 26 yards.

The win brings the teams record to 5-3 for the season and 1- 2 in district play.

Brownsboro will travel for JV play beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Varsity boy plays in Brownsboro Friday at 7:30 p.m.
