In pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and some dollar bills-the children of Bullard collected more than $890 for the new Bullard Community Library.

The children saved money at home for four months and were helped by area businesses with counter jars.

"We are very proud of the kids," said Jennifer Roberts, on the committee for Change for a Change, at the annual Picnic in the Park on Oct.21. "Some of them saved as much as $40 to help build the new library." "We had more than $50 in pennies in the container at the library,"said treasurer Martha Dinwiddie. "That doesn't count the pennies from the merchants' jars. "That was probably at least $50 more. The campaign was just great.

"It really encourages the capital campaign committee to know that the children are behind us."

Local business who participated include AWishing Well Florist, Adams Insurance Agency, All State Insurance, Austin Bank, Brookshire's of Bullard, Bullard Family Medicine, Bullard Hardware, Bullard Veterinary Clinic, Circle C Farm & Ranch Supply, Cristen's, Donut Shop, Hair Depot, Hondo & Shorty's

"We still have at least one more activity that may help us move on up toward our goal of $1600," said Tabitha Hippler, on the Change for a Change committee. "We hope to get the high school students involved with a 'Stop, Drop, and Read' activity."
