Athens Hornets buzz past Panthers, 41, 40

Bullard Panthers took the field Friday night in district play to challenge the Athens Hornets in front of a packed stadium.

Panther fans were stunned when the Hornets pulled ahead to win 41-40 after Bullard held the 18 point lead in the third quarter. Athens caught up in the bottom of the fourth and with no time left on the clock the extra point gave them the win.

Bullard's Charlie Moore led passing by completing four of his six passes to gain 115 yards.

Moore also added three touch downs for the Panthers as well as led rushing with 22 carries for 146 yards.

Geoff Dick added 88 yards with 15 carries and a touch down.

DeQuan Granberry also had 10 carries for 16 yards.

Daniel Howard led receiving with 2 catches for 43 yards. Howard also added a touch down.

Lance Anding followed while receiving one catch to add 42 yards.

Chad Hollie had two catches for a total of 34 yards and one touch down.

The junior varsity will travel to Chapel Hill Oct. 25 to play at 6:30 p.m. against the Bulldogs. Friday Oct. 26 the Bulldogs will meet the Panthers a Panther Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
