Local eatery heads in a new direction After two years in its current location and many years in business, the cozy, county café, Bubba's Texas Grill is going in a new direction. "We have enjoyed everyday here in Bullard," owner Robert Reed said. "We have made some lifetime friends and wonderful memories." Reed said the family business closed its restaurant doors Friday, Sept. 14 and opened Monday, Sept. 17 in a new location as a catering company. "We are still doing what we love to do, cooking great food and serving the public," Reed said. "But we will still be able to meet the needs of our family as well." The long hours required to run a restaurant and the skyrocketing overhead were contributing factors when the Reeds decided to go strictly with catering. "It's not like we were away from our family all the time," Reed said. "They were always either working here or sitting in the dinning room eating. But all of us need more time at home." Bubba's Texas Grill will still offer the foods that made it famous: pit smoked BBQ beef, ribs and sausage; giant Bubba Burgers and fried catfish. They will still custom smoke meats for customers such as briskets, turkeys and venison. Bubba's will add new items to the catering menu such as pork tenderloin, turkey and dressing and Hawaiian chicken. "We thank everyone who supported us with their business, friendship and prayers," Reed said. Bubba's Texas Grill, The Catering Experts, new phone number is 903-780- 4041. |
