Drive slated for Saturday From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the City of Bullard Main Office at 114 S. Phillips St., the Bullard Rotary Club is hosting a blood drive with Carter Blood Care Stewart Center. Formerly known as Stewart Regional Blood Center, Stewart merged with Carter Blood Care out of Bedford Texas in April, making them the largest non-profit independent blood service in Texas. The blood that is collected in the East Texas Area goes to help East Texans. All donors will automatically be entered into a drawing for a chance to win $25-$100 worth of free $1 Texas Lottery Tickets. Donors must be 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pound, be in general good health and have a valid photo ID. "The City of Bullard and the Bullard Rotary Club are very pleased to be associated with the Stewart Organization," said Rotarian Larry Morgan. "I have seen first-hand the good work that is being done in their efforts to save lives through blood donations. We fully support those efforts. Please join us by donating blood." There is no replacement for human blood. One pint of blood can save up to three lives. "It only takes 45 minutes. Someone needs blood in our local area every three seconds. More than 38,000 units of blood will be necessary to meet the demands for the year," Morgan said. For more information on donating blood or to sign up, please call Larry Morgan at 903- 894-7223 or Dianne Martin, Donor Recruitment Consultant at 903-571-8200. |
