Stephen Head, son of Robert and Beth Head received his Eagle Scout award in a ceremony Sunday, Sept. 9, at Bullard Southern Baptist Church.
This is Boy Scouting's highest award.
Stephen is a sophomore at Bullard High School and has been in scouting since the first grade.
Stephen is only the third Eagle Scout from Bullard Troop 366 since 1989 when Perry Speaker received this award.
The troop was dissolved shortly after Perry received his award and was re-chartered nine years ago.
Stephen will also receive his Bronze and Gold Palms, awards that are presented for merit badges earned over and above those needed for the rank of Eagle.
Stephen was the first person since the troop has rechartered to obtain his Bronze and Gold Palms - a distinction given for someone that has earned 10 more merit badges than are needed for the Eagle award.
While only 5 percent of all scouts obtain their Eagle award, even fewer go on to obtain an Eagle Palm.
Part of obtaining the Eagle Rank requires completion of a community service project.
Stephen led a group of 15 individuals to rebuild a map and information area at Camp Tyler to assist campers at that camp.
Stephen is active in his youth group at First United Methodist Church in Bullard, is a five-year member of the Bullard Band as a trombone player, a member of the loading crew for the Bullard Band and was a member of last year's freshman basketball team.
