Panther fans gathered with umbrellas to watch as the Bullard's varsity Panthers took on Palestine Westwood's Panthers. Westwood 45-14 defeated Bullard after a hard-fought game. Chad Hollie started the Panthers off right by scoring the first touchdown of the night. Charlie Moore then added an extra point. Westwood quickly tied it up in the end of the first quarter. Westwood took the lead in the first two minutes of the second quarter. Bullard also took a hit as many players had to be escorted off the field due to injuries ranging from, severe cramps, an injured ankle and a concussion. Colin Shivers tried to pump up fans from the sidelines, as the boys got closer and closer to their next touch down but time ran out. In the beginning of the final half, Bullard fumbled giving Westwood possession of the ball; leading to another touch down. Bullard blocked their kick for an extra point forcing them to try a two-point conversion but it also failed.
With 41 seconds on the clock Westwood scored another touchdown and received the extra point giving Westwood the overwhelming victory. Chad Hollie had one interception and returned it for 50 yards. Daniel Howard had one interception. Brandon Beavers recovered a fumble. Joseph Andrews was the leading tackler for the defense. JV falls to Westwood The Bullard junior varsity team played Palestine Westwood Thursday night in Palestine. Westwood defeated the Panthers 15-6. The Bullard Panthers were led offensively by Sidney Laeson's 18-yard touchdown run. Key receptions by Dalton Simonek, Dustin Sellers, and R.J. Horton. Defensively, the Panthers were led by Shaquille Marable, Stacey Phillips, Phillip Rieger and David Diduch. Sean Tadlock, Phillip Rieger, and Dustin Sellers had interceptions for the Panthers. The junior varsity's next game will be Thursday at 5:30 p.m. against Huntington at Bullard Stadium.
The varsity team will play Friday at 7:30 against Huntington in an away game.
