'Evening on the Brick Streets' scheduled for September 13 NACOGDOCHES - You're invited to attend a very special "Evening on the Brick Streets," including delicious food and live music, on Thursday, Sept. 13, in historic downtown Nacogdoches. The event will start at 6 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres and cocktails served inside the Nacogdoches Convention & Visitors Bureau, 200 E. Main St. Dinner and dessert will be served at 6:30 p.m. outside on Pilar Street behind the CVB. The GMC Trio will provide live music from the 50s, '60s and '70s. "Evening on the Brick Streets will be taking the place of the annual downtown Progressive Dinner this year, and we think the new concept will be a big hit with the community," said Main Street Manager Sarah Hueber. "This event is a unique opportunity for friends to gather downtown and enjoy a delicious meal and great entertainment." Tickets to "Evening on the Brick Streets" are $20 and available now at the CVB. The event benefits the Nacogdoches Downtown Business Association, which uses the proceeds to purchase Christmas lights for the downtown area. More than 3 million individual bulbs illuminate downtown during the annual Nine Flags Festival. The 2007 festival will be held Nov. 17 to Dec. 8 and will pay special tribute to the French flag, one of nine flags that have flown over the city throughout it's history. "Both our residents and visitors enjoy seeing our downtown lights during the holidays, and we have been able to steadily add to our display year after year," said downtown business owner Gerry Larabee. "Buying a ticket to 'Evening on the Brick Streets' is one way folks can do their part to light up our downtown for the holidays."
