Only a few more weeks until Bullard High School begins the new school year. While many of the students are still sleeping late and being lazy, the Bullard Band is hard at work.

Mr. Gary Jordan and Mr. Michael Oglesby are not only eager, but they are excited about this years band members.

This year the band expects to have near 80 members on the field for the half time show.

This year's Drum Major, Erin Huffman, will lead the band.

Another addition is Rachel Wood who will be the feature twirler. The head twirler will be selected at a later date.

The ladies selected as twirlers for the band this year are Lindsay Brown, Jennifer Henderson, Hannah Dahms, Kaitlin Timmins, Paula Paulson, Heather Berryhill and Kahla Morris.

Jessica Geesing will perform as Flag Captain and Stephanie Smith as Flag Lieutenant.

Members of the flags are Danna Holder, Wichya Russell, Katie Worrell, Amber Morgan, Samantha Renson, Kelsey Tyler, Tiffanee Villanueva and Chelsie Reber.

For a Band to operate at a high level of efficiency there are many students who take on more roles than just playing music.

Other important student leaders include the Loading Crew Captain, James Gardner;

For an 80 member band to be prepared to load a bus for a trip out of town, you must have some truly dedicated members of the loading crew. Those hard working band members who not only load the band truck but also, play in the stands, march on the field, and must load the bus for the trip home.

Members of the loading crew are Trent Weaver, B.J. Murphy, Stephen Spencer, Marvin Ross, Judson Watkins, Clinton Harrison, Kyle Wilbanks, David Moody, James Compton, J.T. Evans, Dylan Essman and Stephen Head.

Quartermasters are Judson Watkins and James Compton.

Uniform Captain, Danna Holder.

Bullard Band members take great pride in their uniforms and therefore another group of students have the responsibility of keeping up with the uniforms and being sure that the Panther Band looks its best at all times.

Members of the uniform crew are Danna Holder, Paula Paulson, Amber Morgan, Stephanie Smith, Tiffanee Villanueva and Samantha Renson. You might note that all of these members are young Ladies. I guess that Mr. Jordan thinks that his ladies are neater than his guys!

David Moody is Drum Line Captain.

Laura Rludolf will be responsible for keeping all the music straight as the Library Captain .

While Mr. Jordan and Mr. Oglesby are excited about the growth of the band this year up to that 80 plus members, they still look forward to growing to their magic number, 100.

Mr. Jordan is excited about the growth of the Bullard High School facilities as well.

With the addition of the Fine Arts building and the new football stadium, this will give the band, along with others, the opportunity to host competition from Band U.I.L Sight Reading, Concert Music and Marching Contests.

With the addition of the Fine Arts Building the band will be able to have many opportunities to have parents and community members come to the school, sit in the new 800-seat auditorium and listen to fine music and really enjoy being a part of the Fine Arts Program of Bullard School District.

Also I am sure that the Drama Department is looking forward to a real auditorium to present their plays.

Mr. Jordan is also looking to the time when the new Elementary School is built so that the 6th grade will be moved to the present Intermediate School.

A Band Hall will be built on this campus and then over all music program will grow because there will be a band at all three campuses, the Intermediate, Middle and High School.

This next year will be an awesome time for the Bullard School District with the new Additions of the Elementary School, The Fine Arts building, football Stadium and track as well as additions to the gym, cafeteria and Intermediate School.

Great things are a coming!

Mr. Jordan said there would be no changes to the half time style except the larger number of band members and the addition of the feature twirler.

You can expect an outstanding half time show.

Also exciting times are ahead for the band when they travel to Disney World in June to perform and enjoy the end of this school year.

Congratulations go out to the Bullard School Board and Administration for working with the parents of the Bullard School District to make this School District one that all parents, students and fans can be proud of.
