Timmins returns from mission trip
Timmins followed the call God placed on her life two years ago, a call that led her to New Zealand. Along with Teen Mania through Global Expeditions Timmins spent a month of her summer reaching out to the public of New Zealand and ministering through street dramas at parks, schools, street corners and plazas. Timmins knew that if she changed one life during her time there all the money raised and time spent would be worth it. In her own words this is the story of her trip: "To belong to God is to belong to His heart. If we have responded to the call of Jesus to leave everything and follow Him, then there is a voice within us crying out, 'Fight for the heart of your King!' The invitation of Jesus is a revolutionary call to fight for the heart of humanity. We are called to an unconventional war using only the weapons of faith, hope, and love. This is the simplicity of the barbarian way. If you are a follower of Jesus Christ then you are called to fight for the heart of your King. It is a life fueled by passion a passion for God and a passion for people. The barbarian way is about love, intimacy, passion, and sacrifice. Barbarians love to live and live to love, for them God is life, and their mission is to reconnect humanity to Him. The vitality of their life in God moved them beyond the practicality of simply being reasonable. Their lives didn't make sense; their actions defied sensibility, because God drove them out of their senses. There is no obligation fueling the actions of His people. They are passionate about the very things that are on the heart of God." - The Barbarian Way by: Erwin Raphael McManus First of all I would like to thank you for all of your support and all of your prayers. I can assure you that I witnessed your prayers being answered. My trip to New Zealand was very successful and a lot of fun. I learned so much about being a true follower of Jesus Christ. To follow God wholeheartedly we must be a barbarian freak-someone who is so obsessed with doing what he has called us to do that our actions are so barbaric people can't help but ask. God blessed me and my team in so many ways. On my team alone we saw 15 people come to know Christ. At the end of my trip I found out the statistics for all the GE trips for the first part of the summer: 1,605 children were saved, 1,694 adults were saved, and 21,898 people were ministered to. God has done some amazing things this summer and he should receive all glory for it. He guided our actions and our speech so that His will would be done. Because of your support I was able to be a witness to all he did and I thank you. I was pushed and challenged during my trip. At times the ministry was so difficult that I wanted nothing more than to go home, but then I remembered all of you back home supporting me. I can't even express the gratitude I have for your prayers. Towards the end of the trip each missionary was asked to share their Kodak moment, our favorite moment during the trip. It took me no time to think of my favorite moment. One day we were doing ministry at a mall. At first most of us hated mall ministry just because it was so challenging. We had to randomly walk up to people and start a conversation. Mall ministry could be so discouraging just because people were normally in a hurry or just unresponsive. Before we walked inside the mall our team leader challenged someone from my group of about five to find someone to talk to and buy them coffee or something. We all took it into consideration and walked inside. We did some ministry for a while and then went to the food court. I was standing in the McDonald's line when I saw a young woman standing in the line next to me. Immediately I felt God pushing me to go and buy her lunch. My heart was beating fast as I randomly walked up to her and asked her if I could buy her lunch and sit down to talk. At first she was a little skeptical and asked why. I told her why I was there and she agreed. We sat down and had lunch and I learned a lot about her. Her name was Jessica and she was a prostitute and she did drugs. Her dad was a Christian but she had never lived with him. She knew about Jesus but she had never asked him to be her savior. Jessica was not saved in the very short time I was able to speak with her but when I left her face was just so lit up. You could tell that God was going to do some amazing things in her life. As I walked away this peace washed over me. I knew at that moment that God had sent me to New Zealand to talk to Jessica. New Zealand changed the way I look at the world. There really are people out there who have never heard the gospel and there are people suffering from it. I was so encouraged this summer to do what I was made to do. I hope and pray that God will continue to use me for the work of His Kingdom. Thank you again for all of your prayers and support. I have included a picture of me and a little girl at a park. Her name was Faith and I was able to share Christ with her and she chose to accept Him as her personal Savior. I ask that you keep this photo and pray for Faith. Pray that God will bless her and that she will grow spiritually. That her heart would be so opened to everything God has in store for her. Pray also that there will be people to teach her and help her grow. This summer was incredible and I thank you for helping me go!
Sincerely,
