CONWAY, Ark. - Daniel Abernathy of Bullard is the recipient of the Academic Scholarship and the Odyssey Honors and Distinction Award for Professional and Leadership Devlopment at Hendrix College in Conway.

Abernathy, the son of Tracy and Sandra Abernathy, is a graduate of Bullard School.

Odyssey Honors and Distinction Awards are scholarships that recognize entering students' experiential achievements while in high school.

The entering freshman class will be the second class to experience Hendrix's newest curricular program, "Your Hendrix Odyssey: Engaging in Active Learning."

Entering students will participate in three hands-on learning experiences during their four years at Hendrix.

Upon graduation, they will receive transcript recognition for their experiential learning projects.

Students may choose from six areas for their Odyssey experiences: artistic creativity, global awareness, professional and leadership development, service to the world, undergraduate research and special projects.

Hendrix, founded in 1876, is a selective, undergraduate liberal arts college emphasizing experiential learning in a demanding yet supportive environment.

The college is among 150 colleges featured in the 2007 edition of the Princeton Review America's Best Value Colleges.
