One new face and one not so new one were sworn in at this week's Bullard School meeting at newest trustees.
Michael Roy has been on the board now for 12 years returns - and was unopposed in the May election.
Sam Smith fills the seat of Joe Cavender, who chose not to run this year.
Smith beat Louis Newburn in the May election.
Smith ran an aggressive campaign, based on what he believes he can give to the board - a fresh voice and new ideas. Smith worked tirelessly for the passing of the $28.5 million bond package that passed in November.
The most controversial item on the agenda - couched simply as changed the FMH and EI policy - was tabled.
The policies, evidently, were whether students who met school requirements but had yet to pass the TAKS test should be allowed to participate in graduation ceremonies.
The issue was tabled until an attorney can look into the specifics.
A more comprehensive story on the discussion will be printed in next week's edition of the Bullard Banner News.
The board voted Michael Roy as its new president, Paul Stone as vice president and Tony Johnson as secretary.
The vote was four for the item and three abstaining from the vote.
In other business, the board
! recognized the Key Club and Biology Team;
! named Coach Ryan Tomlin as Teacher of the Year; and
! received a legislative update.
The Bullard school board meets at 7 p.m. the first Monday of every month.
The meetings are open to the public.
