EXPERIMENTAL PROGRESS
Langsjoen chosen to leadership lab
The Brook Hill School is proud to announce that Kira Langsjoen was one of the 15 students accepted nationally to participate in the Brown University Environmental Leadership Lab. This spring, Kira was able to travel to Hawaii for nine days with a select group of students to participate in a course that concentrated on three areas of exploration: Volcanology, Marine Science, and Rain Forest Ecology.
The group of students captured and tagged Green Sea Turtles at Kiholo Bay, snorkeled the Big Island's coral reefs, and observed an active volcano. Kira also participated in a trip to the top of Mauna Kea, Sacred White Mountain, home to the world-class astronomical observatories. To gain acceptance to this program Kira applied to Brown University's Summer Programs by submitting an essay along with her application, recommendation, and transcript.
Kira is a 2007 National Merit Finalist and The Brook Hill School's Salutatorian for the Class of 2007.
She plans to attend Texas A&M University in the fall.
