Crawford, the trilogy spans the life of Texas cotton farmer Rick Childress. The first play, "Barren Fields" takes place when Childress is 25 and faces the first great crisis of his life with his when his wife of five years, Toni, tries to persuade him to leave the farm for the profits and lights of Dallas. In the second play, "Squaring," Rick is in his mid 40s and is visited by the new county ag extension agent, a woman he becomes interested in enough to let her help install a new carburetor. In the third and final act, "End of the Row," Rick nears retirement and must face the most daunting question of whether to quit the farm or not. The trilogy has won the Texas Playwrighting Award and has received a workshop in Lexington New York, a public reading Off-Broadway and will open an Off-Broadway run next December.
