EXPANDING HORIZONS
A group of Bullard Middle School students recently attended "Expanding Your Horizons," at Tyler Junior College sponsored career conference for sixth through eighth grade females. "Expanding Your Horizons" is designed to encourage girls to study math and science and to explore non-traditional career paths. TJC and the American Association of University Women co-sponsor the conference annually. Co-chairs are Dr. Vickie Geisel and Dona Halbert. "`Expanding Your Horizons' gives career women an opportunity to give back to the community and to help young people make good career choices," Dr. Geisel said. "Last year, 600 girls participated in the conference." At the end of the conference, drawings were held for prizes. Expanding Your Horizons was created in 1976 by the National Math/Science Network at Mills College in Oakland, Calif.
