Oma Lee Sloan

Services for Oma Lee Sloan, 76, Emerald Bay, were held at 1 p.m. April 2, 2007, at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors chapel, Tyler, with the Rev. Cary Ponder officiating.

Burial was at Meador Cemetery.

Mrs. Sloan died March 30, 2007, at her residence.

She was born March 29, 1931, in Commerce to the late T.C. and Violet Byrd.

She retired from Wal-Mart in Tyler after nine years service, was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herchel Dale Sloan, and sister, Glenna Lou Gaines.

Survivors include sons, Herchel Lee Sloan Sr., Bullard, and Jimmy Dean Sloan, Tyler; daughters, Debra Sue Davlin, Big Sandy, and Linda Gail Thedford, Flint; brothers, Truman Louis Byrd, Whitehouse, and Vester Jerald Byrd, Tyler; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Herchel Lee Sloan Jr., Michael Byrd, Christopher Michael Carter, Jeremy Peek, Brandon Smith and Phillip Hoover.

Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Dale Davlin and David Monroe Irby.
