Nancy Sue Hodges Van Ostrom

Mrs. Nancy Sue Hodges Van Ostrom departed this life on March 15, 2007.

She was born on Nov. 11, 1927, in Oklahoma City, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James English and Willie Mae Powell Hodges, a son that died in infancy, as well as her husband, Dr. Alvin S. Van Ostrom of Houston.

Nancy grew up and graduated from high school in Sulphur, Okla. In 1948, she graduated from Oklahoma City University.

She was employed for more than 30 years with the Social Security Administration.

Nancy was a devoted Christian and most recently was attending Oasis Community Church in Helotes.

She leaves behind three daughters, Nanette Van Ostrom of Houston, Lauri Van Ostrom Hall and husband David of Tyler, Jayme Kathleen Van Ostrom of San Antonio, and two grandsons, James David Hall, currently serving in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Japan, and Peter Alvin Johannes Hall of San Antonio.

Other survivors were her two sisters, Mrs. Hope Fontenot of Sulphur, La., and Ms. Gloria Hodges of Lafayette, La.

Services were held March 18 at 2 p.m. at Boren-Conner Funeral Home in Bullard.

Private entombment will be at a later date at Cathedral in the Pines in Tyler.
