Schools change their schedules
By Lori Mellinger Bullard Banner News

Bullard schools are trying to alleviate some of the congestion around the campuses, and Transportation Director Lisa Williams hopes the new system will help.

"The way the schedule is now, it's almost impossible to get from the elementary to the middle school," Williams said. "This - we hope - should make it easier - on the parents and guardians who pick up their children."

The way it is now, Williams said, those picking up children have to circle from the elementary school back to the intermediate and over to the middle school - which only adds to the already congested traffic.

Beginning March 19, the middle school - which now let's out at 3:10 p.m., will move to a a 3 p.m. dismissal.

The intermediate campus won't change. Williams said it will still release students at 3:05 p.m. But the elementary campus - which now lets out at 3 p.m. - will be pushed back to 3:10 p.m.

Williams said the schedule would continue indefinitely.

"We're going to keep it running like this, and see how it works," she said. "We have a lot of car riders and with all of the growth coming into the area - especially families with children - we have to keeping looking at ways to both keep the traffic moving and the children safe."

Classes at the middle school will begin at 8 a.m. Classes at the elementary campus will begin at 8:10 a.m.
