Students show skills at annual fund raiser

Bullard students got a chance to showcase their skills at the school district's annual fundraiser held on Feb. 26.
Bullard ISD sponsored its third annual talent show to raise money for the junior/senior prom.
Through the concession stand and ticket sales the event was able to raise about $1,700.
The event provides a forum for students to compete for trophies and prizes in front of local celebrity judges.
M.C. for the evening was Randy Ricci from 102.7 The Blaze, the celebrity judge panel included Tommy Smith from 104.1 The Ranch, Tyler Morning Telegraph's Joe Buie and "The Brain" from The Blaze.
Gifts, trophies and prizes were donated by Stone School of Massage, Steve Eudey, Best Buy and Quizno's.
Rachel Elmakiss was among those receiving awards as she danced to "Hey Mr. DJ" for the 12 and under category earning second place.
First place in the category went to Emily Johnson as she sang "Mercedes Benz."

Chance Browning and his band claimed second place after performing "So Cold" for the 13 and above category.
Dustin Sims took home first place for performing an original song in the same category.
The People's Choice award went to the American Idol Team of Kylee Nichols, Magen McCay, Samantha Phillips, Maddison Malone, Emily Voyles, Maddie Perkins, Callie Timme and Sara Grace French all performing a skit based off the show.
"I heard many say that this was the best show yet," talent show coordinator Laura Hunter said, "I'm looking forward to next year."
