Food Check Out Week was a hit this year, according to Joe Parsely, Cherokee County Farm Bureau president.
The group held a "Farmer's Share Lunch."
This was a lunch consisting of a sausage wrapped in a tortilla, a bag of chips and a drink for 25 cents.
"This is the amount or share of money the farmer would get for this meal," Parsley said.
CCFB set up in two locations last month, in Rusk and in Jacksonville both at the Southland Feed Stores.
The group thanked Richard Massingill for helping and Greg James and Ernie Long for the use of the cook trailer.
CCFB served more than 300 lunches and more than $400 was donated.
The money was split and given to the two food pantries in Cherokee County, H.O.P.E. and The Good Samaritan.
"Thank you to all who came out and enjoyed the food and gave with their hearts," Parsley said.
