Lady JV sweeps tourney
      The junior varsity Lady Panthers ruled the Spring Hill Tournament recently. The girls started by defeating Texas High 28-6. Ashlee Shidler led the girls to victory by scoring 16 points. Emmy Long followed with 4; Heather Camp, 3; Emily Philpott, 3 and Ashley Davis, 2.

Guard falls short at `Classic'
     -- Photo courtesy of Carly Sharawi Spencer Denmon claims two points for the Guard in the Brook Hill Classic Tournament held recently. The Guard faced Lutheran first and were defeated in an upset of 56-57. The Guard went on to play Canyon Creek and were defeated 63-50. The boys will travel to play All Saints next on Thursday with junior varsity beginning at 5 p.m.

Troup Boxing Association to hold annual Byron Payton Memorial on Saturday
      The Troup Boxing Association will hold its annual Byron Payton Memorial Fight Night at 7 p.m. Saturday Featuring competitors ranging in age from 8 to 33 years old, and boxers from Troup, Tyler, Longview, Sulphur Springs, Kilgor, Dallas and Louisiana, the event promises a good night of amateur boxing, according to Sherry Villa, president of the boxing association.
