Cherokee County sets fall seminars
Fall gardening seminars will be held in Cherokee County on Aug. 9, 13 and 16.
The one-hour seminars will highlight fall vegetable production opportunities.
Soil preparation, variety selection and pest management will be outlined.
Time will be allocated for lawn questions on cool season weed prevention.
The Aug. 13 seminar will be held at noon at the Jacksonville Public Library.
On Aug. 9 and 16, the meetings will be at noon at the Alto Public Library.
Soil sample bags and data sheets, as well as vegetable planting guides will be available at each seminar.
County Extension Horticulturist Joe Daniel will be at each seminar to answer questions.
Whether in a flowerbed, window box or garden row, plan to take advantage of the fall gardening season.
Its nutrition, flavor and exercise will be beneficial.
