KOYE honors Bullard students

La Invasora (KOYE) radio station honored 96 East Texas Hispanic students on May 18 at TASCA Ornelas Activity Center in Tyler.

Throughout East Texas, station officials said, these students excel in two worlds - one world where the solo language spoken is Spanish - where Hispanic families "work hard to give the next generation a better future" - and another world where most everyone speaks English.

Bullard students Maria Licea, sixth grader, and Jeremias Medina, seventh grader, were two of those honored.

Educators from throughout East Texas faxed in nominations of superior Hispanic students who they felt deserved to be honored for their efforts and dedication.

La Invasora honored each of the 96 chosen who they said succeed in the bilingual world in which they live, "hopefully encouraging them to become the hope of the next generation and the stars of the future.

Licea, Medina and their parents enjoyed dinner, live entertainment and heard words of praise as submitted by their teachers.
