Propes to compete at state UIL

UIL contestant Ashley Propes , left, stands with her journalism teacher Melissa Vining. Senior Bullard High School journalism student Ashley Propes will compete in the state UIL meet May 3 in Austin after placing third in headline writing at the Region 2 meet April 14 in Commerce.
Propes won the district 14- 3A headline writing contest March 23 in Athens, which qualified her for the regional meet held at Texas A&M University Commerce. The top three finishers in each event advance to the next level of competition.
She will now compete against the top 3A headline writers in the state.
This is Propes' first year as a journalism student. She also competed in feature writing and editorial writing.
