Discovery Science offers new and free program for youths
Something exciting is about to happen at The Discovery Science Place.
For more than 14 years, The Discovery Science Place has offered schools and families hands-on, interactive learning and fun in a safe, friendly environment, and our newest outreach event, MindFest, is no exception.
Based on a festival first conducted at the MIT Media Laboratory in 1999, MindFest, which begins on May 12, is designed to bridge the gap between technology and creativity by integrating science, art, and engineering in playful experiences.
MindFest is a product of the PIE Network, a network of institutions that promote playful invention and exploration, and playful is the right word for this celebration.
This day for families will include take-aparts, with demolitions both major and minor, and build-ups, where material is recycled to make music, science, and art.
Experiments with science, math, music, dance, and art will round out the day and make the occasion fun for all ages. To help with the event, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History will be traveling to Tyler and bringing some favorite activities from their sixth annual MindFest events.
It is important to The Discovery Science Place to be able to offer this event free of charge to families.
Thanks to our generous sponsors, MindFest 2007 will be free of charge to our visitors.
Discovery Science Place, ocated at 308 N. Broadway is a non-profit, hands-on learning environment.
